Multimodality Treatments in Intrahepatic Stones


Abstract
The intrahepatic duct stones or hepatoithiasis are prevalent in East Asia. The treatment of intrrahepatic stones is difficult because of frequent recurrence and residual stones. This study is multimodality treatments of intrahepatic duct stones
using
surgical, nonsurgical or a combination of both techniques. Thirty four intrahepatic stone patients were treated in the department of surgery, Dae Dong hospital from January 1992 to June 1994. Eleven patients were treted with operative maneouver
cnly.
Twenty three patients had surgery with additional procedures. Eleven cases of them were treated with stone extraction using Dormia basket through T-tube tract. Seven cases were managed by balloon ductoplasty. Four cases were treated with
choledochoscopic electrohydraulic lithotripsy. Two cases were stent. Two cases were treated with extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy. Comlete removal of IHD stones in these treatment was 21 cases(91%). Two cases had residual stones(9%). We
could
achieve good outcome in the IHD stones. These multimodality treatment of IHD strones are very useful and safe procedures.
